A resort village in the boreal forest
Candle Lake became a resort village in 1977, on the shores of Candle Lake, and the provincial park around most of the lake followed in 1986. The park sits in Saskatchewan's boreal forest and is known for Purple Sands Beach, where garnet carried by glaciers tints the sand.
